Models labeled (optional) are either alternate variants/configuration of the model or the same model with a different origin. This is to assist in simple static model placement or for easier brush scripting. 

Re flight surface animations: Basic single frame config to create sufficient effect w. neutral transition states in-between. This was to save time and lower complexity. The same goes for lack of full coordination of rudder input per roll maneuvers.

Model prop with shader prop 2 is recommended for static to active states. Due to the nature of the alpha texture/shader, only one active prop may appear on the screen at any one time as misc_gamemodel. This is noted for use of multiple models rendering the same model on one map at the same time. Recommended as misc_model instead. (rtcw_)
